Thread Veins Treatment in London
Spider Veins, Spider Naevus, Thread Veins, Red Spots, Red Face, Rosacea and Cherry Haemangioma can all be readily treated with Lasers and IPLs. Red spots and cherry haemangiomas are collection of blood vessels that can occur on the face or the body. It may be a single red spot on the face or many, many lesions on the body. Rosacea is a common chronic condition that usually affects the face and worsens if left untreated. Symptoms of rosacea can be variable but often include redness, episodes of flushing, skin sensitivity, dry itchy skin, burning and stinging sensations and spots Our Consultant Dermatologists offer the latest treatments for thread veins and broken veins on the face and nose.
HOW ARE SPIDER VEINS, THREAD VEINS AND ROSACEA TREATED?
Laser and intense pulsed lasers (IPLs) are both used to treat spider veins, thread veins and rosacea. They work by producing powerful light to target the red cells in blood, this energy is absorbed specifically by the target area, limiting the impact on the surrounding area. The pulse of light cause thread veins to close down. The collapsed veins are gradually dissolved. Fine spider veins can instantly disappear at the time of treatment.
The treatment feels like a mild stinging sensation. During treatment the skin is cooled, which reduces this stinging sensation and a cooling gel is applied afterwards. There may be some redness and swelling or light crusting, which usually subsides within a few days.
Lasers work well on superficial spider veins whereas, intense pulsed light devices target a number of cosmetic concerns such as brown pigmentation and small blood vessels simultaneously. Patients see gradual but very noticeable improvements with complexion blending and brightening achieving photo rejuvenation of the skin.
LASER TREATMENT
The light from the laser penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions, damaging them. The body’s natural healing processes then removes the injured, pigmented tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
INTENSE PULSED LASERS (IPLs)
If you opt for IPL treatment a course of treatment is the most effective method to reduce the appearance of age spots. IPL works in a very similar way to laser treatment, the key difference being the type of light that is used, with IPL using a broadband pulsed light source opposed to a more selective light source used by lasers.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED AND HOW OFTEN?
The number of treatments needed, will depend on the site and the extent of the affected area. Small veins on the face normally disperse just after 1-2 laser treatments at 6-week intervals. IPL may take 4 sessions at 2-week intervals.
DOES LASER TREATMENT FOR SPIDER VEINS AND ROSACEA HURT?
Depending on the type of light treatment used, some mild stinging or burning may be noticed during the procedure, and the area treated may feel hot for roughly 15 minutes after treatment. However, during treatment the skin is cooled, which reduces this stinging sensation and a cooling gel is applied afterwards.
